THE ILLUMINATED ART OF SUZANNE MICHELLE
Bringing you fine heirloom lighting recreated for today's decor
Welcome to Shadez of Michelle featuring: The Illuminated Heirloom Art of Suzanne Michelle, and the lampshade creations of Shadez of Michelle
Artist Michelle Tomlinson, turns vintage lighting into Heirloom Art: by first, selecting and refinishing an antique or decorative lamp, chandelier, or sconce. She then selects a lamp shade frame style to suit the fixture's style. Finally, she creates a new finished Heirloom Art Piece by drawing out a master plan for the final design and creating a hand sewn lamp shade to complete the piece. She uses the arts of hand dying silk, hand beading fringes and trims, tatting, embroidery, crochet, applique, pleating, as well as, hand-loomed netting and meshes. The artist uses vintage fabrics and trims when applicable to suit the design. Each piece is completely unique, and can easily take up to one month or more of tedious hand work. Few others offer the attention to detail and her effort to re-create "Heirloom" pieces using old needle work techniques of yesteryear. (Note that Michelle refinishes only pieces that can not be preserved in their original state).
Michelle Tomlinson has been creating lamps and shades since 1990.
Each piece in Michelle's Heirloom Collection is numbered, dated and tagged.testing
